Fauteuil Massant….HMMM?

Yes, we finally did it! Tabby and I…Shannon Dewees…went to France, had a day at the spa, and had a massage. Actually, I have to be truthful; we went and bought a massage chair instead. While I’m not quite sure what Fateuil Massant even really means I know sitting in a massage chair after a long day of sitting at the computer writing is enough to make anyone say OOO LA LA.

It all started when Tabby was complaining about her feet hurting after we had walked all day long touring the malls in Atlanta Ga. That is what us Southern girls do, a lot of walking and a lot of shopping. I had to admit that I was hurting in muscles I didn’t even know I had, and suggested that we needed to take off to France and spend a week at the spa being massaged and treated like the queens that we are.

As it would happen we passed a booth in the mall at that moment that was advertising Appariel massage, nope not quite sure what that means, but the few minutes I spent in that massage chair was the best experience of my life. Within two hours of being in that massage chair as they told us about hot stone massages and oils and massage tables, we were both relaxed and asleep in front of our favorite movie on the couch.

We both agreed that we have never been that relaxed in our lives. So we came up with a plan, buy our very own massage chair. You are probably saying WHAT!? Aren’t those outrageously expensive? NOPE! Not as much as you would think and those things make you feel amazing.

So, here we both are with a massage chair that is in my den, since that is where we spend most of our time, and neither of us wants to get up and work, or cook, or any of the normal single mommy things. The kids of course think that it is a toy and love to try and hop in our laps when we are relaxing. This should be a good way to relieve the stress of the wedding (EWWWW) that we both have to attend soon.

Long story short, Tabby and I are now walking, talking advertisements for massage chairs, tables and every other type of massage you can think of. Until next time…

Weddings, Banquet Halls and Ballrooms

The day that Tabby and I had been dreading had finally come. What would that be you ask? I will tell you. The wedding of our best friend Cindy was finally happening and we were feeling nostalgic and a little bit betrayed. Okay, make that jealous. After all, our happily ever after’s had landed in the dumpster. So we both put on big smiles and made our way to the church where the happy couple was getting married. The ceremony was lovely and we had tears in our eyes by the time it was done. We aren’t totally heartless; we want Cindy to have her fairy tale marriage.

They had the perfect wedding location picked out and the food for the reception was marvelous. The caterers that the couple had chosen were gracious and the food had the perfect flair to it. Tabby and I ate until we about busted. We like food, what can I say.

I have to say that the wedding and the reception were like a celebrity wedding and the newly married couple was beaming as we set off to dance the night away at the Brandview ballroom. Tabby and I looked up the Brandview collection on the Internet before we left for the wedding last weekend. I have to admit that we were in awe of the Brandview ballroom. The staircase was totally awesome with its gold-leafed design had everyone’s mouth dropping when we first walked in. The room had a really historical flair to it and the open-air balcony made us feel like we were in a Romeo and Juliet play. All in all the wedding, reception and the dancing afterwards were a huge success.

Tabby and I danced until our feet hurt and by the time we got home, we had decided that maybe trying marriage again wasn’t such a bad idea after all. We curled up on the couch with popcorn and hot cocoa and watched sappy chick flicks for hours after the wedding. By the end of those movies, we had once again decided that being single moms beat being married to our exes any day of the week. Crisis averted! (Tabby said for me to add that.)

As I said though the wedding wasn’t half as bad as I thought it would be and Cindy and her new hubby are off on their cruise to the Bahamas and blissfully happy. She is going to send us postcards. Until next time….

Payday Loans in Missouri

Okay we messed up. Tabby and I decided to go on a road trip to Kanas City Missouri. Well to make a long story short, we didn’t take enough money with us and ended up stranded. Tabby forgot her checkbook and mine was in the glove compartment of the truck. We also did not have enough money in either account to use our debit cards. We were royally messed up. (We took Tabby’s car instead.) Then we realized we could get payday loans in Kanas City Mo.

Tabby or I neither one know anything at all about payday loans. So we went online and found out quite a bit. Did you know that you are approved or disapproved in 60 seconds? I for one have never had a loan get approved in a day, much less sixty seconds. I know we will be using payday loans back home in Georgia when we get strapped for cash. Because face it, as a single mom you are always strapped for cash.

For example, last week one of the boys brought a letter from the school home at the last minute; it seemed that he needed 120 dollars to go on a field trip. Great huh? It would have been but he needed the money by the next morning. This was on a Tuesday. HELLLLO! What mom has money on a Tuesday? I had to call and ask his dad for the money. Do you know how hard that was? I hate to ask that weasel for anything. IF I had known about payday loans, I could have gotten the money instantly and paid it back out of my check. How simple is that? Very, as far as Tabby and I could tell.

Then we found out that we could do online payday loans in Missouri. We had it transferred to Tabby’s account, so we could use her debit card and were able to finish our trip and get home in time for our movie night. Now that is a feat!

Yes, there is an interest rate associated with getting a payday loan, but it sure beats having to call the dweeb when the boys need something and I am out of money. So our trip to Missouri was not only fun but a learning experience as well. Who would have thought? Hmmm, I wonder what my next exciting blog will be on. Until next time….

Help! I Need a Plumber!

This was not the next blog I wanted to write about, but I am so peeved right now that I need to vent. An overflowing commode flooded my entire house while I was out of town in Savannah for the weekend. No one was home and when Tabby and I walked in on Sunday, we found ourselves ankle-deep in water! I had been having trouble with the commode for a while. I asked the dweeb to come look at it but he never had the time. You had to jiggle the toilet handle to keep it from running and then overflowing.

Well low and behold one of the boys didn’t jiggle when we left on Friday and the result was an overflowing toilet and water damage throughout the house that I figured it would cost me a fortune to fix. I was at a total loss and had no idea who to even call for any type of water damage restoration. Tabby and I surfed the web for hours, as our feet got wet, and couldn’t come up with a single place that would not charge an arm and a leg. Then it hit me, I had a friend that lived in Bellevue and I remembered her raving about the Bellevue Plumber that she had called to fix not only her leaky pipes but to help with water damage as well. I know I don’t live in Bellevue but she would be able to recommend someone right.

I called her and was so glad I did. She gave me some great tips on where to call, what prices to look for, and how not to be taken for a ride. We talked for about an hour and of course made plans for her to come to Georgia and see Tabby and me soon. After all, we did go to high school together before she married and moved away. But of course, I stray from the subject of my blog as usual. Since, I refuse to call the dweeb for money, or help with the house anymore; talking to my friend was a Godsend. I was able to find a plumber and have the water damage repaired for a reasonable price.

This is more than a good thing because Tabby and I have a trip planned, that I can’t wait to blog about when we get home. Until next time,

A Vacation in California

I hinted in my last blog that Tabby and I were going on a trip that I couldn’t wait to write about when I got back. Well guess what? We did, and I’m back and more than ready to tell you about our vacation. We decided to take everyone’s advice and take some holidays in California. Tabby has an aunt in Ca. so we called her first to see what the best sites to see were. Tabby’s aunt’s first suggestion was to visit Tahoe and San Francisco. Of course, you know us we had to take a day, or two, to visit Hollywood. All the hype is right about Hollywood. It is all glitz and glamour and we even seen a few stars. Well, Tabby swore she saw Johnny Depp, Ummm I wasn’t so sure on that one.

But anyway, we had a ball in California. Although, I have to admit we were happy when we got back to our little corner of Georgia. California is a huge place, and fun for a while but we are country girls at heart so…. They even have ranches in California, did you know that? We visited one of those also on our vacation. It was action packed and fun filled.

Of course, we had to check out the nightlife as well and I tell you San Fran. has quite a bit of nightlife going on. I didn’t think I was ever going to get Tabby out of that one club. Tanned, muscular bodies, the girl was in heaven. But I did manage to pull her away long enough to eat at some amazing places as well. She liked the waiters in these places to, so that helped.

We decided when we got home, and were as usual on the couch watching movies and eating popcorn and drinking hot cocoa, that we are going to go on more custom holidays in the near future. We came home exhausted, tanned and with a huge respect for people from California. It’s a great place to visit and if you have the chance, you should really book a vacation online to go there. You will not be sorry that you did. We were so tired our first night home that we fell asleep on the couch and didn’t wake up until morning! Anyway, that is the trip I couldn’t wait to dish about. Hopefully, there will be many, many more to come. Until next time….

Cooking with Nigella

Tabby and I are learning to cook! Well okay, we are moms so of course we already know how to cook. I’m not talking about hamburgers and hotdogs here. I’m talking about real food, gourmet food, things that don’t come out of a box. Nope, what we are going to do is learn to cook with Nigella. Nigella has everything from books to an online website that can teach you to cook and help you make some really scrumptious dinners, breakfasts, and lunches.

Tabby wants to learn how to make some awesome desserts. She has a totally sinful harlequin toffee brownies recipe that is mouthwatering. We made them last Thursday night before our weekly episode of Vampire Diaries came on. Everyone knows that Vampire Diaries and Damon Salvatore is something we do not ever miss.

I want to learn some different chicken breast recipes to try on the boys. They love chicken but are really getting tired of the same old dinners week after week. I have a strong aversion to dark meat in chicken that would be the thighs and legs. Something about all of that stringy dark meat turns my stomach so I stick to chicken breast dishes, unless it’s chicken and rice. Nigella has some awesome chicken breast meals on her website and I intend to try every one of them, just as Tabby intends to try every one of the desserts that are on the website as well. The boys really want me to try the ritzy chicken nuggets recipe that she has listed. They love chicken nuggets but need them to be a little healthier. Yep, mom does cook healthy at times you know. It’s not all hamburgers and French fries.

Now since Tabby and I have decided we need to shed a few pounds, because of our newly single status, we want to try some of the chicken salad recipes. I want to try the Mexican chicken or turkey salad and Tabby wants to try the Vietnamese chicken and mint salad (Yeah, she is not all about sweets, but mostly so.)

Either way, as we head out on this venture with Nigella we will be sure to keep you posted on the recipes we succeed at as well as the ones we bomb. The point is to have fun with it and Tabby and I are great at having fun lately! Till next time…

A Trip to Budapest Hungary

Well we have finally done it. Tabby and I made a trip outside of South GA and headed up to Budapest Hungary. We had been thinking about taking a trip out of the United States ever since our divorce papers were signed and had been looking at various sites and packages trying to decide which trip would be the best for both of us.

We chose to go to Budapest Hungary after visiting the website that explained all of the hotel accommodations and all of the great things that could be done on a vacation there. I wanted to see the museums and local culture, not to mention the gorgeous countryside. Tabby wanted to hit the nightclubs and restaurants (That girl is always hungry.) I do have to say however, that the bistros in Budapest are amazing and if you ever go there, you don’t want to miss them.

One of the museums we visited was equally amazing, the Aquincum Museum and Ruins was an interesting and very pleasant way to spend an afternoon. Although at one point, I did fear that I was going to lose Tabby in the ruins because of some hot Hungarian guy that was following her around. I’m starting to think I need to get Tabby married off again as soon as possible. She sure has a thing for the men lately. She says to tell everyone that she is divorced, not dead and that she will look (and touch) if she wants to! Best friends, can’t live with them, and you can’t shoot them…so what can you do?

Anyway, back to our amazing trip beyond the US borders. We went to a hopping place called Doboz and it had many of the sexy men that Tabby is looking for. I think it is one of the newest clubs around and was packed full of bodies. To me that is not such a good time, but Tabby loved it. I’m more of the quiet type; give me a book and a glass of wine, over a dance floor and beer anytime. However, I went with Tabby…because well…that’s what best friends do.

I hope that when you have the time, and the money, you will make a trip to Budapest for the perfect vacation with your family or your friends. OH! Did I tell you that Tabby and I are thinking of taking up cooking? But that is for another blog. Until next time…

NASCAR and Football..Who Would Have Thought?

It’s me Shannon again! My ex is probably turning over in his would be grave about now, (insert much laughter here) because Tabby and I have discovered nothing other than NASCAR racing and college football. Oh, I cannot count the times that the jerk (as my ex is now called) wanted me to go to just one game or sit and watch just one race. If I had known how fun it was, I might have actually agreed. How did this change come about, you may wonder. Well, we have Tabby to thank, with her love for all men sexy.

This one she met at our weekly movie night and before I knew it, we were sitting in front of the boob tube eating nachos and watching NASCAR. It is super exciting to watch those cars speed around the track at a zillion miles an hour and believe me we were both on our feet screaming for our favorites. Have I mentioned just how sexy that little Jeff Gordon fellow is lately? No! Well, tune in next time and you will see just what I’m talking about girl.

Now the college football is not as much fun but I did enjoy the game. Once Matt, that is the date I was set up with for this little adventure, explained the game and some of the plays to me I was good to go. I was once again on my feet and cheering for my team to make it to the finish line, or is that the goal? not sure but it was a blast anyway. I have a nephew that plays college football for Clemson and trust me I will be going to his games more often now. It’s not so bad, once you know what is going on.

Tabby is now a diehard fan of the NASCAR circuit and any type of college ball. You can find us on the couch on Saturdays and Sundays watching one or the other when they are in season of course. See? My ex would be proud for I am now a sports fan. Eat your heart out jerk. Sorry that just slipped. The next stop is a live NASCAR event and Tabby’s life and mine will be complete. You should try sports my lady friends, they aren’t as bad as you have been led to believe. Hot men and action all in one place! Till next time!

Celebrities, Weddings and Flower Choices

It seems that even celebrities, or maybe just because they are celebrities, want glamorous weddings. Tabby and I, as you know, have been keeping up with all of the celebrity gossip. So we are certainly in the know about any celebrity weddings that might be taking place. Of course, neither of us understands why they would want to do such a thing in the first place. We are both having fun being newly single moms. But as Tabby is fond of saying, to each her or his own. She says this with a shrug but I have seen her looking at the wedding pictures wistfully. I just pretend I don’t see, clamp my mouth shut and keep flipping the pages of whatever celeb mag we are looking through at the time.

But I digress from my subject, don’t I always? What I’m here to talk about is flowers, weddings and stars. Because I had a dream wedding and it was still nothing compared to what these celebrities are doing with theirs. Of course, they have tons more money than I did and they have to do it up right since they are in the public eye. Take Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. They recently announced their engagement and you can be sure if the wedding takes place in LA, they will have one of the top Los Angeles florists deliver the flowers for them and set them up as well.

Of course, the bride must have the perfect bouquet to throw to her single bridesmaids so the florist will take care of that as well. My favorite part of mine, and any wedding, is the dress and believe me the celebs know how to pick some gorgeous ones. From sultry to elegant you can be sure that whatever dress Angelina wears to her nuptials will be eye poppingly gorgeous and extremely expensive.

All of this celebrity wedding stuff and these gorgeous pictures of gowns and flowers almost has me missing my ex. Okaay let me rephrase that, it has me missing being married or the process anyway. Tabby is all misty eyed over here so maybe it’s time to close the lid on this blog and move on to the next one.

I just want to say congrats and good luck to all of the celeb couples about to tie the knot out there. In my opinion they are gonna need it….or maybe not. Until next time.

Funny Videos and Much More….

Hey! It’s Shannon again. I haven’t blogged in a bit but I just had to let you know that Tabby and I have finally discovered funny videos and pictures. Now we spend a lot of our time not only watching funny video shows on the boob tube but we go also spend much time online watching online funny videos at Jookeroo as well. These videos are totally hilarious and Tabby and I spend hours watching them and holding our sides from laughing.

I am a big animal lover so anything to do with dogs, cats, or exotic animals will keep me enthralled for hours. The clever cat crosses the bridge video kept us laughing for a while I can tell you. Tabby’s weakness is the baby videos. Anything a baby does has her oohing and ahhing all over the place, so the funny videos that include baby antics keep her happy. We have found that no matter how bad our day has been, and trust me we have had a few lately, watching some funny videos cheers us both up in no time at all. I mean come on, we are from the South, so what do you expect. One picture we saw had people eating lunch hanging from a mountain at a picnic table. I kinda figured it would be cool, Tabby…umm not so much. She is afraid of heights. We did have a ball going back and forth on that one though.

Some of the best lol pics get us through the day lately. They are just so cute…especially the ones with the captions like, “Say it to my face,” with a cat cornering a big dog on a couch and daring him to come down and confront him. Stuff like that is just hilarious to me…don’t know why.

Tabby thinks it’s because we had such hum drum boring lives as housewives and barely knew there was an Internet, much less funny pics and videos to watch. Who could have known there was such laughter in the world just waiting to be seen right?

Well anyway, I just had to let ya’ll know about these funny pic and videos, just in case you haven’t discovered them yet. Tabby and I are off to look at some celebrity wedding sites. That’s another thing that we can blog about when we are done. Celebrities, sheeesh, they are something arent’ they? Until next time then…

Shannon
